is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

Proceeds help send our Steel Bridge Team to the National Competition at Texas A&M in May. Dine fireside on fine Greek cuisine, with vegetarian options. Please support your local community by helping to build a playground in 1 day! Vision: A great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Good news! Foresters, non-profit organization KaBOOM!, the Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance, and the City of Long Beach are joining together to provide our Wrigley neighborhood with a playground. We have a Build Day scheduled on Saturday, February 12, 2011 and we need the entire community involved because this playground will be built in just ONE day! No experience is necessary and food/drink will be provided. There are jobs for people of all ages and abilities! We look forward to seeing you on BUILD DAY!! Just as play is essential to a child's physical, mental and social development, so does a community build project contribute to the health and vibrancy of the entire community. Habitat for Humanity Build, October 1, 2010 EWB CSULB had the opportunity to help build homes in the Lynwood area. We were joined by EWB USC and had a great day painting, moving and volunteering. We are looking for a few good sanitation/environmental engineers with professional experience to serve as Mentors. Mentors will oversee the design, assessment and implementation of the project and will be working closely with the students to assure their compliance with EWB standards. EWB Receives "Most Improved Organization of the Year" Award ![]() The Associated Engineering Student Body awarded this honor to EWB this year for coming out of the shadows of the past year. From a handful of members in 2009, EWB CSULB has grown to over 30 active members for 2010. We look forward to continued membership growth and working hard to make this a multidisciplinary organization to include members from other majors. EWB on 49er Video Webcast Matthew Guhit from the Daily 49er interviewed some of our members at our last meeting and did a small piece highlighting our mission. I hope we can all have a great time doing something for our local community. Participating Points Before we set foot on a plane or start that AutoCAD template, a lot of planning and coordination with various organizations and people needs to happen. Since travel funds will be limited, we would like to reward those who do the most to make the project a success. Travel funds will be awarded to those who accumulate the most participation points during the Summer/Fall 2010 terms. Points will be accumulated in the following scheme: Attending chapter meetings - 1pt. Attending off-campus meetings - 4pts. Tabling campus events - 2pts. Flyering - 1pt. Attending AESB meetings - 3pts. Creating flyers and banners for events - 2pts. Bringing in speakers - 5pts. Bringing in a Mentor - 6pts. Bringing in sponsors - points proportional to amount of money donated Membership database maintenance - 1pt. All members will receive notice of other opportunities to earn points as they present themselves. Points will be posted publicly at meetings and full transparency will be honored. |
