AESB: Be A Leader.

Do you like to bring about change? Do you enjoy planning events? Are you outgoing and sociable? If the answer to all of those questions is yes, then you might be a perfect fit to run for the Associated Engineering Student Body (AESB). What is that you say?

The AESB is the governing body of the students in the College of Engineering. They voice the concerns of the students regarding the COE administration, faculty, other student organizations, and the Associated Students, Inc. The following positions are open: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Webmaster.

Duties of the Officers:

The qualifications, duties, and powers of the President.
The President shall:

  1. Be an engineering student with a 2.0 (C) grade point average in his/her major.
  2. Have been an active member of AESB before holding office.
  3. Preside over all meetings, and shall see that provisions of the Constitution are carried out.
  4. With the approval of the Council, appoint committee chairpersons.
  5. Have the authority to appoint special and standing committees with the approval of the Council.
  6. Have the authority to call special elections, with the approval of the Council.
  7. Be a voting member of all committees.
  8. Represent the Council in the university community.
  9. Promote the development and maintenance of recognized student organizations.
  10. Perform other duties that customarily pertain to the office.

The qualifications, duties, and powers of the Vice-President.
The Vice-President shall:

  1. Be an engineering student with a 2.0 (C) grade point average in his/her major.
  2. Have been an active member of a COE organization before holding office.
  3. Ensure that the year’s activities schedule is carried out.
  4. Assume the duties of President in the absence of the President.
  5. Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

The qualifications, duties, and powers of the Treasurer.
The Treasurer shall:

  1. Be an engineering student with a 2.0 (C) grade point average in his/her major.
  2. Have been an active member of a COE organization before holding office.
  3. Supervise all financial matters pertaining to the student organizations.
  4. Hold funds, securities, and account books of AESB and report to the council at least once a month.
  5. Present the adopted budget request of AESB to the Associated Students Board of Control and Senate.
  6. Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

The qualifications, duties, and powers of the Secretary.
The Secretary shall:

  1. Be an engineering student with a 2.0 (C) grade point average in his/her major.
  2. Have been an active member of a COE organization before holding office.
  3. Record the minutes of all meetings and distribute copies to all members of the AESB at the following meeting.
  4. Post notification of all regular and special meetings.
  5. Record all amendments to the Constitution and By-laws.
  6. Conduct all correspondence of the AESB and keep an electronic copy on file.
  7. Maintain the official roster of the AESB.
  8. Maintain an accurate copy of the Constitution and By-laws and distribute copies to all AESB members at the beginning of the school year.
  9. Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

The qualifications, duties, and powers of the Webmaster.
The Webmaster shall:

  1. Be an engineering student with a 2.0 (C) grade point average in his/her major.
  2. Have been an active member of a COE organization before holding office.
  3. Supervise all web-based documents pertaining to the student organizations.
  4. Maintain updated website with materials voted upon in meetings.
  5. Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

FACT:In the past two years, all 5 Executive Officers and at least 1 AS Senator were all CECS students.
