AESB Weekly Updates

Volume 4, Issue 1: February 3, 2010

Meeting Friday

The first AESB Meeting of the Semester will be this Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:00pm in VEC-113. See you there!

Thank you!!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Leadership Retreat last week. The notes from the best practices discussion are attached.

ENGR 102 Volunteers NEEDED!!!!

AESB has once again been asked to present in the ENGR 102 classes. This semester, we will be presenting Google Docs collaboration tools, which the freshmen will be required to use for a group report later in the semester. If you would like to sign up to present, please fill out this form: http://www.aesb.org/engr102volunteers. No experience is necessary; we will provide the presentation for you, and you will not be presenting alone. If you have any questions, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

DENSO Survey

As part of their ongoing sponsorship, DENSO wanted to conduct a brief survey of the COE students to know what kind of affect they are having. Please fill out the survey. http://spreadsheets.google.com/embeddedform?key=0AmoSTnU82Nj8dGNER3QzWkpiV0t6cmwzcXpyZDhiclE, or click the link on the http://csulbRacing.com website home page.

COE Student-Faculty Mixer Planning Committee

If you are interested in helping plan the annual COE Student-Faculty Mixer we are looking for a committee chair, and committee members. If you are interested in getting involved or helping out (even just a little) please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Fiscal Certification and Event Planning Workshops

As a reminder, each organization must have at least one officer who has attended the Orientation and Event Planning Workshop and the Fiscal Certification Workshop. If you attended last semester, it is good until the end of the Spring semester. If the officer that was certified graduated or you are a new organization, please make sure to attend the workshops. The schedule can be found on the SLD Website.

Higher Education Rally

Host: Students for Quality Education Long Beach & California Faculty Association
Date: Thursday, March 4, 2010
Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location: Friendship Walk

The Facebook event is http://www.facebook.com/#/event.php?eid=276766210911&ref=ts and will help give us a better idea of how many participants to expect. Please direct further inquiries to "LB State SQE" < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it >.

Run for Student Government

Are you interested in advocating for student rights? Developing campus community? Influencing university policies? Then run for ASI Student Government. Pick up your application starting February 8 from USU-311. The deadline to submit applications to USU-311 is February 19 at 4pm

Note: Senators are elected through ASI elections. If you would like to run for COE Senator you must file through the process outlined above.

COE Open House Date Change

It looks like the COE Open House date will be moved. It will most likely be scheduled in mid to late April (since we are only supposed to serve admitted students this time, having it in March will not provide us with the participation we would expect).

Engineering and Technology Career Fair

Synergy at Work is this year's Engineering and Technology Job Fair and will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm in the USU Ballrooms. AESB will have a table at the event, if any organization would like to recruit and leave flyers there.

Engineering Scholarships

Please forward the attached information along to all your members, especially first year students.
